Garage Door Opener Installation
A modern opener is a different machine from the chain-rattler you grew up with: belt drives you can barely hear, battery backup that works in an outage, cameras, and phone control from anywhere. We install and program new openers across San Antonio — sized to your door, mounted properly, safety-tested before we leave.
Call now if…
- Your current opener predates 1993 (no photo-eye sensors — a real safety issue)
- It wakes the household every time it runs
- No rolling-code security or smart features
- Repeated repairs on an aging unit
- You're replacing the door and want the whole system to match
Choosing the right opener
Belt drive for quiet (the right choice under a bedroom), chain drive for budget workhorse duty, wall-mounted jackshaft when you want the ceiling clear or have a high-lift door. Horsepower gets matched to door weight — a double insulated door needs more than a single aluminum one. We carry and recommend what fits your door and your budget, not whatever earns the biggest margin.
Features worth having
Battery backup (mandated on new installs in some states for good reason — outages are exactly when you need the car), Wi-Fi control with open/close alerts on your phone, keypad entry for the kids, and motion-activated lighting. We set all of it up and walk you through the app before we pack the truck.
Installed right, tested right
Proper install includes reinforcing the door's top section if needed, correct rail height and header bracket mounting, travel and force calibration, photo-eye alignment, and the cardboard-box reversal test. You get programmed remotes, a programmed keypad, and your old opener hauled away.
Common questions
Opener Installation FAQs
How long does an opener installation take?
A straightforward swap runs 2–3 hours including programming and safety tests. First-time installs or wall-mount conversions run a bit longer. Nearly all are done in one visit.
Belt drive or chain drive?
Belt if noise matters — it's dramatically quieter and today's belts are as durable as chains for residential use. Chain if you want the lowest price on a detached garage where sound is irrelevant.
Can a new opener work with my existing door?
Almost always, provided the door itself is balanced and healthy. We test the door first and fix any spring or balance issues before hanging a new opener on them.
